The Cougar baseball team will be having tryouts on March 12th, in hopes to win another District Championship.

As the cougars approach another season they hope to become back to back district champions and even more. To help strengthen the team they will be holding workouts in the weight room on Tuesdays and Thursdays while having batting practice in the cage on Mondays and Wednesdays.

3rd year Head Coach Ryan Hilton continues to improve the squad and has high expectations. With last season’s record of 12-20 and a  loss in Regionals to Chelsea, the team would like to get payback.

Max Denny, a player for the cougars, said, “I think that this year we should expect bigger things.  While nothing is a given, I believe this year we could be a contender for a conference title and a regional championship, both of which have not been won by an East baseball program.  We have some very live bats and a promising pitching rotation.”

The players are aware of their time to shine and just hope they piece it all together.

Player Hayden Harrigan said, “I believe we will win a state championship.”

After getting new pinstripe jerseys last year, the Cougars will be getting a new alternate jersey this year.

Denny said, “The new uniforms obviously make me excited.  They are going to make our guys excited to play in them which should bring more energy to the table.  If you look good, you play good. Am I right?”
