This afternoon, at 2:20 p.m., all phones, radios and televisions in the United States will be broadcasting an alert.
There’s no need to worry, the alert is only a test. Students are likely familiar with alerts such as Amber Alerts, however today’s alert will differ from other alerts in that it’s nation-wide. Most alerts sent out are usually only regional, but the alert being sent out today is being used to test if national alert systems are ready to warn the public of an emergency.
For students who ride the bus, this test will be taking place shortly after boarding.
