Have you ever wondered what it would be like to argue a court case in a real courtroom, in front of a real judge?
If so, then East’s Mock Trial Club is the club for you!
Mock Trial is a club that runs from September to March, during which time you learn about the American legal system and build a case against the opposing side. You can build writing, public speaking, acting, and legal skills, and meet new people whom you will work with throughout the year.
What’s all this preparation and study for?
Around March, there is a regional competition, where you compete in teams against other schools. Each team has two sides, prosecution, and defense, with opportunities to be an attorney and a witness. If your team is one of the winners in regionals, you move on to states.
The first meeting will be Monday, October 7th. It is a brief informational meeting that leads into the first meeting of the year. It is located in room 3218 from 2:30 pm–4:00 pm. If you wish to commit, attendance is mandatory, and you must let Ms. Sarnacki know ahead of time if you can’t attend the meetings.
SLEHS’s Mock Trial is always striving for success and improvement, and with YOUR help, we can reach a greater level than we have in past years.
