As the football season comes to a close, there is always one game that South Lyon waits patiently for. On October 25, the South Lyon East Cougars took on the South Lyon Lions at East. This matchup represents more than just a football game for these two schools – it’s a clash of community pride, school spirit, and extreme competitiveness that has been growing since 2007. 

The Stakes and the Game

This season, the stakes were high for both teams. They have shown impressive performances during the regular season and making it to the playoffs depended on this game. Both teams worked hard throughout the game to showcase their strengths, but the Cougars came away with the Win and headed to the playoffs with a 30-21 score by the end of the night.

Community Impact

This crosstown rivalry game is more than just a contest: it’s an event that brings together both sides of town. Both Student bodies support; as well as, parents, families, and even alumni. The stadiums were packed full, the atmosphere felt electric due to the bands, cheerleaders, and student sections that were never giving up on their teams. 

This game brought joy to the student bodies at both schools and filled them with excitement before the big game.

Dom Giovannini, South Lyon East’s quarterback stated after the game that he enjoyed playing against the boys that he grew up with and it will always be a surreal memory that he will never forget. 

The night was an unforgettable display of sportsmanship and community. At the end of the day, it was just another memorable night for South Lyon as they came together as one to support their school teams.
