As the South Lyon girls lacrosse team gears up for the new season, there’s a buzz of excitement
among players and fans alike. Tryouts are set for March 10 at 4:45 p.m. at South Lyon High School, with no experience required
and no cuts for underclassmen.
With strong talents, dedicated leaders, and a desire for success, the team is setting its sights on a successful season.
Team captain Skylar Buchholz is confident about what the squad can achieve this year. “I feel pretty good about our chances of success”, she said. “We have a really good team this year with a lot of different talent, and I think that will take us far into the playoffs.” The team has been preparing by attending open gyms and focusing on stick skills, defense, and offensive strategies.
The team’s schedule is packed with key matchups, including an April 4 game at Brighton, a rematch against the team that ended their playoff run last year. Other notable games include the games against Novi, Lake Orion, and Huron Valley.
The team is also hosting a special awareness event on April 26 in support of Morgan’s Message, an organization focused on mental health in
student-athletes.
For senior Riley Kligman, this season is about both competition and personal growth. “I hope that in every game, I improve and get more comfortable,” she said, “I just want to have fun and help out in important games.”
South Lyon East student Natalie Needham is eager to watch the team in action. “It’s fun to watch, and you can always learn from parents or students in the stands,” she said.
With strong leadership, dedicated players, and supportive fans, South Lyon is ready for an exciting season.
