As the second semester rolls around that means prom is near. Prom will occur on Friday, May 16 at Laurel Manor in Livonia; the theme is A Night in Ancient Greece.
Prom guest applications are already available in the main office. They are due back COMPLETED no later than Thursday, April 10.
Tickets will go on sale Monday, April 13 until Friday, May 2; each week the ticket prices will go up. This year they have decided to have dinner served at the dance, so ticket prices will start roughly around $100.
Mrs. Sepulveda, the junior class advisor, has tried to make prom as affordable as possible for all students, but she mentioned, “This year because we are serving dinner, we have no choice but to raise the ticket prices. I recommend buying your ticket within the first week so it is the cheapest!”
Next, Olivia McPherson, a junior on the board of student council, had to decide where to announce the theme of prom and she picked the Student vs. Staff basketball game on Friday, March 21. “I picked this day because it should make people want to support and stay for the Student vs. Staff basketball game to hear the theme,” McPherson said.
A key part of prom is the court, “Just like we did for homecoming we will have self-nominations with 8 total people on the prom court, but whoever has the top 2 most votes, no matter who it is, will end up winning,” Mrs. Sepulveda added.
Senior Megan Fannon, at South Lyon East, is very excited about prom this year after she found out how much time and energy was put into planning it. As students going to prom Fannon says there is a lot of planning that they must do going into this night, “Me and my friends have already started looking for party busses that can fit all of us, but I never really thought planning all this out would be as hard as it is. At least we don’t have to plan dinner this year!” Fannon emphasized.
