The East girl’s soccer team is ready for their season with conditioning, practices and tryouts just getting finished at Total Sports in Wixom. Soccer is a sport played by boys in the fall and girls in the spring.
It is enjoyed by players, families, and audience members alike.
Having more than 10 years of playing experience, Laila Karnib is excited and thrilled to start the season this year.
According to Karnib, there’s lots of fun points to soccer and the team. “I really like hanging out with friends and just getting to know new people. And then I also really like the competitive aspect of it, I think winning is fun,” said Karnib with a smile.
“It’s [Karnib’s past soccer teams] very friendly. Everyone’s, like, a family, everyone’s your best friend and it’s also competitive too, but we always have fun,” said Karnib.
Karnib hopes to join and make the girls soccer team this year since she wasn’t able to play last year due to a knee injury that made her unfit to play.
Sophomore Claudia Wray said her favorite part of the East girls soccer team is: “The players and relationships.”
“Twice a week after school we do like 45 minutes to an hour of interval training, cardio. So, like sprint ladder drills, and stuff like that,” said sophomore, Ava Lindburg.
Lindburg said, “I think my favorite part about being on the team at East is it gave me an opportunity to meet some really nice upperclassmen and kind of play on a team and have that school spirit and that team bound all in one.”
