Class of 2026 players Gianna Lucchesi, Gabriela Lucchesi, and Shaelyn Perry spoke on how it felt to win the state championship and the surreal feeling that game with it.
Attack player Gabriela Lucchesi says: “Winning states was a surreal achievement that our team has been fighting for over the years. The thrill of playing at the University of Michigan’s stadium with my best friends will always be unforgettable.”
Midfield Shaelyn Perry says: “Winning the state championship was the most surreal moment of my life. I never could’ve imagined an experience like that and I am so grateful to have been a part of it. I was very proud of myself for being the leading scorer but I was honestly just focused on the win. I am so blessed to have experienced something like this with such an amazing team. None of these opportunities would’ve been possible without them!”
Attack Gianna Lucchesi says “Winning the state championship was such a surreal moment for my team and I. We worked so hard during practice and it really showed off in our state game. Being the last D1 team undefeated was a crazy feeling and something that the South Lyon Women’s lacrosse team has never experienced before. I am so thankful to be able to create such special moments with my best friends.”
Additionally, the Women’s lacrosse team will be receiving their championship rings along with a public congratulations at the South Lyon East vs. Old Football game on Friday, October 24th between the first and second quarter. Make sure to show your support for this outstanding accomplishment!
