South Lyon East football is searching for an additional assistant coach for their varsity team.

The East football team wants each coaching spot to be specialized. Previously, the defensive back coach, Coach Nowicki, was filling out more than his position intended. He was stepping in as the wide receiver coach.

Future captain Jordan Atkins said, “A new coach will be able to take some stress off of Coach Topp and actually let him be the head coach instead of filling in for the coaches’ spots we don’t have.”

Having each spot specialized increases the team’s success by improving individual skills/positions that are in need of refining.

The team is composed not only of the athletes but also of the coaching staff. Compatibility between the two groups is as important as skills.

Team chemistry is vital to efficiently work together. “A good coach will help track the team chemistry,” said future captain Dante DeGrazia when asked what traits he is looking for in the new coach.

The East varsity football team is looking forward to a new assistant coach in their program. They have big plans next season, and would like to achieve them with a new member of the team.
