AP Psychology is in its first year in South Lyon East, and the class won’t stop growing !
In room 2401 , Mrs. Morris is the new teacher of psychology. After creating a psychology program at her old school she became passionate about it and when she came here she thought it would be cool to bring it.
This class just ended its first semester and Mrs. Morris said she loved teaching it. She is ready to continue to help her student’s learn more about themselves and other people.
How are we learning and thinking ? Who are the important psychologists and how do they work ? What are some psychological disorders, how to diagnose them and classify them ? What are the different perspectives of psychology ?
Those are the questions which would be answered in psychology class. The final objective is “to see the values of the subjects and why it’s important when you walk away from the class,” tells Mrs. Morris.
“I wanted to know, how certain thoughts end up happening or why we think certain things,” Junior Keagan Bass junior said.
“It helps you understand how your brain works. Overall it was a pretty good class,” Senior Avani Rajesh said.
“I I learned how certain things end up happening,” Bass said.
According to Mrs. Morris, a lot of students stop by asking about AP psych to take it in their next year schedule. She shared with us her vision of the future of this program, “I loved teaching English 9 but I would love for the program to become so big that my entire schedule is psychology.”
“It’s not super hard so if it’s something someone is even a little bit interested in I will say go for it to see if you really like. It’s interesting, it’s a fun class to take,” Bass said.
Morris is already thinking about ways to make it better and have more hands-on projects to hopefully make it “engaging and exciting for students to take,” she explains.
